"Stone Cold" Steve Austin:July 28, 2008 - August 11, 2008 In this five man gauntlet match for the vacant Intercontinental Championship, it looked like Makr Henry would leave as champion but then Steve Austin came down the ramp and raised some hell and left as the new Intercontinental Champion.

John Morrison:August 11, 2008 - August 18, 2008 Once again the Intercontinental Championship was contested with multe opponents. This time it was an over the top rope battle royal filled with some of the best superstars in JC. After the match was finished it looked like Triple H had won but then John Morrison rolls back into the ring after going under the bottom rope and attempts to eliminate Triple H but in the end it was from the help of Mark Henry to declare Morrison the winner.

Rey Mysterio:August 18, 2008 - August 18, 2008 At SummerSlam there was a triple threat match between John Morrison, Rey Mysterio and Edge. Rey and Edge were hoping to become first time Intercontinental Champions and Morrison was attempting to successfully retain. At the end of the match it was Rey Mysterio who had his hand held high. But this title reign was short lived...

CM Punk:August 18, 2008 - September 7, 2008 Just after Rey Mysterio had won the championship, CM Punk came running down to the ring and cashed in his Intercontinental Title shot and quickly won the championship.

Jeff Hardy:September 7, 2008 - October 26, 2008 The stage was set for perhaps one of the most exciting matches of 2008 but as Punk was walking out, Jeff came up behind and hit him with a steel chair and drags him down to the ring where he hit a Twist of Fate and then a Swanton Bomb to win his first Intercontinental Championship.

John Cena:October 26, 2008 - January 25, 2009 Since he first signed his contract to JC, John Cena had been trying to win some gold and for months he was unsucessful but his oppontunity came when he was voted in to face Jeff Hardy at Cyber Sunday and when it was all said and done, he finally got his first taste of JC gold and eventually became the longest reiging champion in history.

Jack Swagger:Januay 25, 2009 - March 8, 2009 The newcomer known as The All-American American, Jack Swagger went straight after John Cena and the Intercontinental Championship and once he was able to become the number one contender, he took the oppotuniy and dethroned the longest lasting champion in history.

The Undertaker:March 8, 2009 - May 8, 2009 The cocky Jack Swagger thought he could take on the world, but there was one man he couldn't beat. That was of course, The Phenom... The Undertaker. The deadman took Swagger to school in this exciting match and left Last Chance as the new Intercontinental Champion.

John Morrison:May 8, 2009 - May 17, 2009 After months of being on the sideline John Morrison returned to Smackdown, and in a Fatal Four Way match for the Intercontinental Championship it was Undertaker vs. Raven vs. Ted DiBiase and Rey Mysterio was suppose to be the final competitor but Morrison attacked Rey before he could enter the ring and went on the win his second Intercontinental Title.

John Cena:May 17, 2009 - June 7, 2009 With John Morrison having only held the Intercontinental Championship for just over a week John Cena earned a shot at the championship at Judgment Day and he took the oppotunity and pinned Morrison to win his second Intercontinental Championship.

Brock Lesnar:June 7, 2009 - June18, 2009 After John Cena suffered an injury just one week before he was suppose to defend the Intercontinental Title at Extreme Rules so he had to relinquish the title. This left Randy Orton without a tag team partner but Smackdown GM Cherry called up Brock Lesnar from Superstars to replace Cena and in his first major match Brock won the Intercontinental Championship.

John Morrison:June 19, 2009 - June 20, 2009 With the release of then current champion Brock Lesnar, the Intercontinental Championship was then vacated and up for grabs so Smackdown General Manager decided to award to championship to John Morrison, making him a record breaking 3 time champion.

Goldust:June 20, 2009 - June 20, 2009 1 day after Morrison won the Intercontinental Title, Goldust faced him in France for the international Smackdown live show. Goldust managed to hit Morrison with the Final Cut and get the pin to win his first title on Smackdown.

John Morrison:June 20, 2009 - September 13, 2009 Earlier in the night, Morrison lost the Intercontinental championship to Goldust. But he claims he wasn't ready so he invoked his rematch clause for later that night and ended up winning back the title for the fourth time.
